Anybody wanna copy of XPlora 1: Peter Gabriel's Secret World?

Doesn't run in Win 98 or under WINE, so it does me no good. . .

World Cafe is not available on the air in the Twin Cities, but is in Duluth. Explain this to me.

As ever, Public Radio Fan is your friend. And, um, through some weird coincidence, they're currently playing the new Peter Gabriel single now. So he's actually going to release the new album in the States, then. How nice.

Perhaps we'll get WOMAD, too. Just one, maybe two shows. As much as a country of comparable size, like England or Germany.

Bitter? Me?

Oh, and I forgot my medication and read Lileks.

I found beaucoup idiocy on the NEA / NIH site, and lots of predictable pabulum on the PBS site as well, but the idea that the NEA project is a HATE AMERICA FIRST project is wrong. Everyone’s focussing on the page that encourages study of the WW2 internment camps, and how contemporary attitudes apply. I agree that it smacks of self-flagellating nonsense, meant to remind us all of the Emergency Racism Reserve that sits under this nation like a gigantic tank of bile, waiting to be tapped by the legions of white-sheeted night riders. Yawn.

Use of unnecessary violence in the apprehension of James Lileks. . .

. . . has been approved.

np - World Cafe, obviously, Kate Bush, "And so is love", The Red Shoes

Kate and Pete - "Don't Give Up", from So. Still love that song. And that Pete is still a cutie in my book.

You noticed how I mentioned those two, huh?

Sinead O'Connor did Kate's part on "Don't Give Up" at WOMAD when I saw it. Back when the U.S. actually got a few shows.

Much music goodness flows from Real World, though, so it all ballances out.

Duluth mayor continues to stubbornly cling to the past:

Recently, the local GLAAD groupies headed to Duluth mayor Gary Doty (a steaming pile of dog shit in my own opinion. He was my wife's landlord in college and cost us a place to live when we moved to the cities with his bad reference, but that's another story.) to seek support for the local pride festival. Doty promptly denied the request (as he has in the last 2 or 3 years) stating "I don't think it's appropriate to devote a special day to the sexual preference of people. That's what being gay is all about."

-and you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself- ooops got all caught up in the moment.

It appears, however, that the Duluth city council ( a whole bunch of steaming piles of dog shit that happen to all be eligible for social security) will override the mayor with a veto. While I seriously doubt the city council understands or empathizes with the GLAAD members, at least they're securing their re-election with the general populace. Citing Aaron's previous examples of whitey being outwardly non-prejudiced and sees no racism, sexism, euphamism, tourism, *ism in existence, I don't know where I'm going with this.

Aaron, can you please help me turn this into a conspiracy of the man trying to keep everybody down?

-wait, that's too easy.

Psst. Margaret Cho article alert. Somebody around here loves her.

CSCWebmaster, were you telling me about a large Tibetan refugee community in Duluth? Or have I got the details mixed up again?

And is the wife still having to replace her entire workforce every few weeks, when INS swoops in and carts 'em all off?

Michelle, am I that transparent?

Don't answer that.

When did Salon change "Mothers Who Think" to "Life"? And were they going to change the directory name "mwt" to reflect this at some point?

The only Tibetan I know in Duluth is a Math Professor, and by the bank he's collecting, I would hesitate to call him a refugee.
There is a rather large gay/lesbian population in Duluth for a city its size. However when I lived there, they were very subterranean.

My wife no longer deals with the trials and tribulations of migrant workers. She is now, get this, in IT. She handles report writing for a large worldwide company's HR department. It makes me laugh when she comes home with questions about porting info from an access database to a web page. "I will answer that question for a $50/hour consulting fee".

"...and end the day with a FREE COLONIC!"
"but dad, a colonic-"
"If you like pina colonics, and getting caught in the rain..."

Oh, Cool! Did salon FINALLY change the name of that section? Because Mothers Who Think is so freaking offensive. Is there a mother who DOESN'T think? Is it some sort of anomaly to think if you are a mother?

Hear what I'm saying?

Now...mothers who KICK ASS...there's a good section title.

Link to Lileks gives a cutesy 404 page.

Should you fix this?

Perhaps not.

Christ, that's the link on his own fucking page. . .

Yeah, he should have done a radio interview about blogging.

Fixed. Ish. Scroll.

Back up a minute.

CSCWebmaster, you (obviously) got the schweet webmaster job.

Kerry is working in IT.

And I'm taking an alphebetizing test at the local Hollywood Video so they know I can rack the movies properly -- which task, I hasten to add, their current staff is incapable of performing?

Should I jump off the Hennepin Avenue bridge? The Stone Arch is cooler, but it's after that drop, and I'm not sure the water is deep enough. . .

HR and IT is a match made in about the 4th circle of Purgatory.

This, I know. For my headaches told me so.

So, put a bunch of rocks in my rucksack and go for the Stone Arch bridge, then? Like most Negroes, I lack buoyancy in the first place.

No one else remembers that, do they? I'd have a more positive attitude if I could forget dumb racial comments of years gone by. . .

Please don't jump off the stone arch bridge, it will upset the tourists. Jump off the Broadway bridge like the homeless folk.

Yes, I had inherited the "schweet" webmaster job, who wouldn't want a web site that was mirrored out of Spayer's cube? In actuality, the company had accomplished their goal(negro out, whitey in; commence with pay increases and vacation time.), and I moved out of support. My current position has nothing to do with the hellish duties I had to perform immediately following your... -er dismissal? They did think they had a nice blue eyed blonde haired farmboy that wouldn't make a stinky until I brought in my vintage colt 45 poster with the big-ass afro havin nubian princess riding a tiger. I beleive that was taken down, being that it was offensive. However, the picture of Claudia Schiffer half naked in another person's cube was perfectly acceptible. HMMM....

But I digress...

As usual being someone of average or slightly below average intelligence, it was assumed I could handle the responsibilities of several average corporate drones. It took nearly a year to convince them I couldn't take support calls and handle a website that grew everyday.

Now, I took a position in Marketing that handles all new media initiatives. I no longer have to care for websites on a day to day basis. We (corporate marketing) come up with new designs and graphics, then force the web-lackeys to implement them. This effectively makes me the Web-Man, keeping those lowly webmasters down by stifling their creativity. Bow before my corporate might!

By the way, last I checked, the support department will have 0% (unless you include women in your womenandminorities) diversity as of September 1, 2002. Somebody should call the EOE offices.
