Then man made the machine in his own likeness.

Everybody look around
'Cause there's a reason to rejoice you see
Everybody come out
And let's commence to singing joyfully
Everybody look up
And feel the hope that we've been waiting for

Everybody's glad
Because our silent fear and dread is gone
Freedom, you see, has got our hearts singing so joyfully
Just look about
You owe it to yourself to check it out
Can't you feel a brand new day?
Can't you feel a brand new day?
Can't you feel a brand new day?
Can't you feel a brand new day?

A Brand New Day, from The Wiz. No clue why that's stuck in my head, but I thought I'd share.

And for those of you not making with the clicking on the link in the lyrics, thebrotherlove.com [ j.ournalogue ] is Reloaded.

And it's too damned pretty.

Light/nonexistent posting from me today.

Cause I wake up already negative
And I've wired up my fuse
So don't nobody bring me no bad news

Ah well, may as well surrender to my destiny. Mental note: stop at Doc Wax and see if they got a copy of the Wiz soundtrack. . .

Or hell, look for the DVD. Ain't seen the thing in a month of Sundays.

Mostest fun I had at Bowie State was two turns onstage in the theater department's production of "The Wiz" as the Tin Man.

*whistles "Slide Some Oil to Me"*

Ha! That was great.

Thanks, j. And welcome back.

George, um, I don't have S.T.P. . .

Love, love, love the Wiz.

George, I totally see you as the (not-so) Cowardly Lion. And all apologies. I originally read your line as "Slide Some Oil On Me."

Heh.

(tried pinging this entry...blame it on the flu-like symptoms)

Ronn, great, is everybody sick? Hope you feel better soon, man.

Guess I could do a double-rental-bill with The Wiz and The Last Dragon. Haven't seen that in a while either. . .

The Wiz was EVERYTHING back in its day. Half the black actors on Broadway owe their careers to Pippin and The Wiz. Watching it over again is like looking back at pictures of yourself when you were a skinny kid and still couldn't afford to shop at the new mall.

Cobb, Pippin? Man, you're old school. Nowadays, you tell somebody, "Get your damn hands off that keyboard" and they just look at you funny. Honestly. Young people these days.

Talked about The Wiz soundtrack a while back; think it would have been easier to list who didn't appear on the thing.

And I still can't afford to shop at the new mall. . .
