Guess most of the current nicknames work

Since VASpider asked to keep hers, guess I won't be assigning people Tarot card-based nicks. Probably asking for trouble, anyway; sorry, Karin, I keep meaning to write Facade and tell them they need an interrupt screen between your reading request and the actual reading, asking "Are you sure you wanted to know this, kid?" And offering a nice, safe link to, I dunno, some Hello, Kitty cards or something.

Anyway, in case anyone had forgotten, there's generally perfectly good reasons for the current name assignments. Except the ones I just tossed out.

Gothic Babe of the Week image of Rebecca Blood, who I hope and pray no longer drops by here, originally linked in the entry with the oh-so-subtle and intellectual-sounding title, Fuck that objectification shit, she's cute.

Where the discussion turned to breastfeeding-friendly corsets, because that's the type of site this is.

Really fucking weird.

Update: And speaking of really fucking weird, Dru links to rune readings, if you don't trust some silly cards to reveal your moosey fate.

Wait, that didn't come out right.

Sorry, no it did.

Of course, these things being what they are, wanting to know and needing to know are two different things. I needed to hear it. Didn't want to, but it was pretty damn necessary.

Boot-print still stings, though.

Karin, oh yeah, I know that one. Wanna compare mar--

No, that could be taken the wrong way, and VASpider seems like the jealous type. Never mind.

Instead, we can geek out in a disturbing fashion about Dave McKean's Vertigo deck. Beautiful thing, isn't it?

Re the Vertigo deck: damn straight it is. I was a very poor student when it first came out, but it seemed completely reasonable to me to spend a week's worth of grocery money on it. I'm still glad I did.

It scared me, though, when I turned up McKean's Five of Cups for a girl who'd recently experienced a near-fatal miscarriage. (When you see the card, you know why that's so disturbing.)

Have you seen McKean's The Particle Tarot?

You mean this Particle Tarot?

No, hadn't known it existed until you mentioned it. Thanks. Those are amazing.

I honestly don't remember when or where I bought my copy of the Vertigo tarot anymore. This worries me slightly.

Of course I'm the jealous type. Hello, Spider? Territorial much?

'sokay, I think FianceBruce would have something to say too. :)

Aaron, I'm just distressed that McKean has only done a major arcana for the Particle Tarot. If he ever does a whole deck like that, I'm first in line. I'll get back to my divination studies again just for that.

Hey, I'll be second in line.

That way, I can check out your mar--

Sorry. Apparently, in addition to making you stupid, being veiny and evil also makes you hor--

Crave chocolate.

I will go to the cafeteria and get a chocolate bar from the vending machines. Yes, that will do.

Can I just say that the phrase "veiny and evil" is one of my new favorites of those spotted here? It's coming treacherously close to displacing "magical nigger du jour".

Er, Karin, will you think less of me if I admit I swiped "veiny and evil" from Buffy?

And I'm not sure about the other one.

Good artists borrow.

Bad bloggers steal.

Always steal from the best, I say. And Buffy counts, so all's cool.
