I know what you mean about the national anthem. Went to the final ice show at Drury Lane and actually intergrated the place. They do a big support the troops/support the war bit at the end. Everybody but yours truly stood up. The person next to me commented that one usually stands when the flag is brought in. We had a staring contest which I won. As we filed out at the end of the show, the audience let me know their displeasure.

Carey, I think the symbolic value of one of the few (from experience) Negroes in the house standing might keep the white folk from booing. And I really don't think it's enough that our government flew the families of the soldiers we killed in Afghanistan in so Bush could personally apologize to them, and offer them full, highest-possible pensions, to compensate for their loss.

Oh and Saskatchewan is probaly a better chice then Alberta. Alberta is our most right wing Provence. Uranium City was mostly abandonded in the 80's (81 I think). Oh and BC has al these abandond Mining towns. Ontario and Quebec, have abandond US bases from Norad in the 50's (Lots of PCB's though) And Newfoundland has abandond outport towns from the 60's, You will need a boat though. (And farming is awful)

Of course NW Ontario is going to recover, the question is when....

Oh and if you have $400 Canadian you don't need, my boss has the a book of plates from a 17th century (modern 90's Reprint though) French Encyclopidia. IT has everyhting you need for the eras Tech. There are diagrams showing how to build and use a Loom, among other things. It's about 20 volumes. Also shows you how to cast a canon.. Handy stuff.

moxee -- At least your national anthem is singable, unlike ours. Also, yours has persons standing on guard, rather than active bombs going off . . . yours glorifies defense, and ours is just freakin' violent. Perhaps we could all just adapt versions of the new Australian anthem, with its focus on how pretty the place is. I rather like that one.
