I think this is related to something I read in Teresa Nielsen Hayden's Suzette Haden Elgin's (okay, that joke is now officially dead) The Gentle Art of Verbal Self-Defense, about attempting to create dominance relations/hierarchies through language. At least I'm guessing that's what he was trying to do, comparing me to his children. Doubt he was aware of it on a conscious level; he ain't none too bright, really.

Neo, picked up some more Nori Maki at Mitsuwa Saturday morning. Along with a very large bottle of half-price plum wine. Should'a bought two of each, and sent you a nice care package. I suck.
Also got the Kodansha Bilingual Comics version of The Tale of Genji, which is lovely. And the reading right-to-left thing isn't nearly as much of a problem as it normally is for me. No idea why.
When I get up there next, I must check out the manga- sounds super-bien. The plumb wine not so much- you like your alcohol super sweet & I like mine dry. It takes both kinds of ppl- there must be balance in the alcohol universe...
