Only cleaner.
So Nichelle was all like:
I have visited Chicago only once, but it really didn't overwhelm me. But I am noticing a lot of buzz about the Windy City, Chicago. First, it was the Chicagoist from the makers of the Gothamist. Then I hear about Daily Candy Chicago. Now, there’s Time Out Chicago as well. Furthermore, two of my friends are going to be in Chi-Town this weekend.
It's worth noting that this was, in fact, the first I'd heard of any of those sites. Because, as has been mentioned several times previously but always bears repeating, I suck.
Any old way, Nichelle and friends have been added to the massive list of links. The one from Bloglines, saving me the trouble of trying to think up cruel charming nicknames for them.
For the time being.
Rachel is definitely going to get one, though.
Just on GP.

Really, I was curious as to why you weren't a part of Chicagoist. And then I remembered...
Daily Candy, Schmaily Candy. I don't need those goobers to tell me that Chicago is interesting. It already houses my favorite bookstore in the world (the Seminary Co-Op) and a lot of other really cool stuff that I never seem to get around to visiting when I'm there, like the vegan soul food restaurant I keep hearing about, all the (reportedly) stellar yarn stores, etc. If anything, Chicago was probably better off without a Time Out, bleah.
Thanks for the love!
Took me a day to figure out what song that was. Heh.
j., I figure I should be at least as antisocial and hermit-like online as off. It only seems fair.
Susan, I'd forgotten about Soul Vegetarian East; haven't been there in ages. Drop me a line if you're ever in town, it's not a bad place, really, and not all that far from U of C. If ya squint a little.
Can't help you with the yarn stores, though. Wendy?
Nichelle, no worries. Sorry about the Yuppies. Or the apocalypse. Not sure which is the preferable option. . .
Trance, I'd looked up when that came out, but it was depressing, so I forgot again. But now I know what to put on your next mix cd!
So, well, what's my nickname?
ps. why don't we just merge New York and Chicago into one city? I mean, geography aside, wouldn't that be cool?
Feh. I'm not so sure how I feel about all these "supposed" Chicago-centric blogs. There is such a corporate feel about them. If feels like the same information is regurged for the different locations. "Wow! Check out this gallery in (insert quirky, funky locality here) then have dinner at the ultra-hip (insert name of hot-restaurant-of-the-minute-listed-on-Metromix)"
I guess I read blogs for personal insights, not so much what to do. Even then, I could go to Gapers Block for that.
Rachel, considering the ears you had on at the reading, and the theme of Nichelle's party, I'm thinking Miss Kitty Fantastico. But worry I'd have to explain it too much, and then would have to deal with the appalled expressions. . .
The merged cities thing would be cool. As long as we kept Chicago's style of pizza, of course.
Miss MacNasty, hadn't thought of it that way, but yeah, what you said. Might help to know the individuals involved, but that gets into that whole social thing, at which I suck.
yo chicargo wanna be lyke bompton!
