Andromeda Ascendant

Damn. On the one hand, crap American skiffy show based on a notion Gene Roddenberry scribbled down on a cocktail napkin between affairs with interns (and Nichelle Nichols).

On the other hand, Lexa Doig in leather doing wire-fu.

On the one hand, a precious hour of my life I'll never get back again.

On the other hand, Lexa Doig in leather doing wire-fu.

Hey, the brother dies at the end of the episode! And the regular character brother technically dies, but gets resuscitated because he's a regular! And he nobly sacrificed his life so whitey might live!

Yep, it's a science-fiction movie, all right.

lagtime.com does a better job of explaining the site tagline than I've bothered to. The breaking point for me was in frickin' Final Fantasy, when the brother nobly sacrifices his life so whitey might live, and me and Chris just looked at each other like "God damn, even in a cartoon brothers can't get a break."

Tried to explain to a Minnesotan that one of the reasons black folks (ok, most black folks) thought that The Matrix was so damn cool is because at the end, the brother doesn't die (*cough* Dozer *cough*). And she looked at me confused, and said she'd never noticed that before.

There are lots of uncomfortable pauses in my conversations with Minnesotans. This is where I'm repeating my mantra, "Genocide is wrong, genocide is wrong, genocide is wrong. . ."

Update: Good artists borrow, bad bloggers steal.
