Ok, hating you all now
By the bye, the next time I announce my intention to watch a documentary that's guaranteed to illustrate that I haven't completely lost my faith in humanity by the simple expedient of whittling away at the remnants, could someone please ask me to catch a rerun of Law & Order: The Other One instead? Remember, if you haven't seen it, it's new to you.
The Japanese government is being way too circumspect about the issue of comfort women. After all, the U.S. government apologized to Hawaii about that whole stealing the country thing, and not only do most citizens not care, they aren't even aware that we did so.
Do I mean steal the country or apologize about it? Yes.
Flipped through some of my African cookbooks after Alwin brought up the relationship between warmer climes and vegetarian diets. Did not need to be reminded of the Mercator/Peters projection maps issue, thankyouverymuch Africa News Cookbook. But there is a whole section dedicated to vegetarian cooking, with a couple curry recipies. People tend to forget that the British Empire cheerfully transported people from one colony to another -- Gandhi spent time in South Africa, after all -- and there were movements of people/culture over the millennia before the West realized they weren't alone on the planet.
Oh, and in the new regime, anyone making predictable jokes about Ethiopian restaurants will be shot alongside the real estate agents. May as well rid the planet of all the scum in one swell foop.
Lastly, who finally wised up and got rid of those Lactaid adverts which announced that the product would "help you digest milk like everyone else"? Seeing as the majority of the planet can't digest the stuff, and white people are the fucking freaks of nature who can.
Between 30 and 50 million Americans are lactose intolerant. Certain ethnic and racial populations are more widely affected than others. As many as 75 percent of all African Americans and American Indians and 90 percent of Asian Americans are lactose intolerant. The condition is least common among persons of northern European descent.
I mentioned the hating you all, right? Well, it bears repeating.
Plus, it's hot, I want ice cream, and sorbet/rice dreams/gisé is more expensive, dammit.
