May we bang you?
I forget that there are people in the sticks reading this. Folks outside the hustle and bustle of urban life. Those blissfully ignorant of contemporary reality. White conservatives, basically.
Unlike the male gangs, the female gangs have very little gun violence. Instead these girls fight with razors, knives, and stomp other females with their heels on.
Eighteen-year-old Nikki "G", a selfproclaimed "stone for life," states females gangs have to look out for each other in the same manner as guys.
"The other day me and my girl beat this n___a down because he hit my girl in the face, and that's a no no," she says. "Me and my 'G' went to his house about 1 am, busted into his room while he was sleep, and I started beating him with my murder bat. I tried to kill that little mother f___er," Nikki said.
She adds, "If he tries to come after me, which I doubt it cause he know he was wrong, my girls gon' beat his a__ again, and this time he's not gon' be able to come back after us," says Nikki.
From All about the gangsta chicks in New Expression out of Chicago. There was a discussion of (male) gangs on Minnesota Public Radio this afternoon. I had to keep reminding myself that it was not a comedy show.
Minneapolis has the best of both worlds. Gangs from LA and gangs from Chicago, of various ethnic groups. Memorize this phrase: No entiendo su idioma, por favor, ¿habla usted ingles? Works wonders.
Also, when someone says, "Girl gangs? Like in `Grease'?", smile pleasantly and answer, "Yes. Just like that."
We have to improve the gene pool somehow.
Update: Sorry, should have been clearer. Suburban Public Radio listeners are about the least likely folks to run into problems with gangs. Unless you're equating "gangs" with "youths of color hanging out on Hennepin and Nicollet", which one caller did. That was when I decided this was the funniest thing since "Car Talk". Oh, those wacky Tappit brothers.
The Chief of Police (who was being interviewed on the show) did have helpful advice, though. Like, "Don't leave valuable shit, including change, in plain sight in your car, or mother fuckers will bust the window and gank it." Which will hopefully cut down on the shattered glass littering the streets around my apartment.
