OHIOwa
Which came up in my referrers for some reason yesterday. Them things frighten me.
One of me favorite bands, Over the Rhine, has a new double-cd out, OHIO. They're touring to support it, or, I dunno, maybe they just like playing live. Two shows here in Chi at Schubas the 20th and 21st, followed by one at the Fine Line in Minneapolis the 23rd. And, you know, a few in Ohio itself, including one at Beachland Ballroom in Cincinnati on Thursday the 18th. But not one in Columbus, blowing a perfectly good excuse to go visit Neogrammarian. Unless that's close enough to conveniently hit. Not that I should be taking two days off from work this soon after starting, but that's the advantage of temping, ennit? Calling in unavailable for no particular reason, other than not wanting to be bothered?
Okay, probably a bad idea. Seemed worth a try.
np - Good Dog Bad Dog: The Home Recordings, Over the Rhine, natch.
I'd try to describe their music, but readily acknowledge my suckiness at such things. There's some mp3s at their site. Go have a listen.
Oh yeah, and remind me to change the name of the site soon. Also found out from the logs that searching Google for Michelle Jones brings me up first at this point, and despite the fine Blog Body Shop skills on display here, I don't think anyone really wants that. . .

Well- it all depends on your definition of "close," doesn't it? If I remember correctly, Cinci is 1 1/2 hrs away. [Wonder why they're playing only Cinci?]
Lemme know. [Sorry- & now I must give the public service annct that 'It's important to keep your job.']

Oh well, I'm sure there's some other band I can use as a pretext for heading out your way.
The easiest way to find out would be to pick up one of the free weeklies. I'll just drive down some weekend to get one and flip through it, ok? I'll ring you from Coffee Table when I find something good.
And it's not my job. It's the temp agency's job. I'm just the convenient warm body.

It's about damn time Mr. Colson got his own fansite. I've loved his wife for years.

Hmm. A Paula Colson fansite.
That has a nice ring to it.
And I very much regretted those drinks last night. What was that Guinness/Bailey's thing called again? Events become blurry after a certain point.
Come to think of it, I don't think Bailey's is vegan. . .

Um hello. Over the Rhine is coming to Indianapolis. I see no mention of trying to come here for the show and seeing me. A slight oversight on your part I assume.
One that will be rectified soon yes?

Ah, yes, do give a buzz when you get to CT- but call my cell, just to be sure. : ) 'spose I should find out when Ladyfest is- although I think it's a pretty provincial affair here.
[&, I remembered when on campus today that I got it wrong, earlier- it's 2 1/2 hrs to Cinci, 3 1/2 to Cleveland- the 1 1/2 is Dayton. Whatever. Small Ohioan cities].

You're only threatening to come to Ohio becasue I have now vacated the premeses, and yes, I DO take this personally, but I still refuse to risk letting you know my current location, because you apparently misinterpreted the Afro Ken Love I helped to send your way.
Ok, ok. Richmond.
You have to figure out which state, though.

Damn, you might be right about the Bailey's. it is Irish Creme.
It was called a Car Bomb. Guiness, Baileys and Jamison.
And yes, my head hurt like hell this morning. Felt like my brain was trying to escape.

Michelle, erm, yes, an oversight. Again with the Thursday night show, I see. Well, guess I wouldn't have to skive work for that one. . . do you have any plans for the evening of October 2nd?
Neo, will do. And we can go to Ladyfest and pick up. . . no, I can't even joke about it anymore. Bad enough Pamela invited me to go to Stargaze with her and Karen a few nights back.
Garrity, you know I loves you like a stepsister, but some things cannot be forgiven. And that much Afro Ken love is definitely one of them.
Redpac, great, so I got alcohol poisoning and triggered my lactose intolerance. And you wonder why it took so long for me to finally visit. Sheesh.

But the honey mustard and salsa was good right?
and it only cost you the round trip on the El...what more could you ask for?
See this Sunday then?
Posted by: Redpac at September 8, 2003 08:36 PM
The honey mustard was good, but the salsa was definitely gringo variety.
Sunday works for me. The Heartland ok? Guess I could check to see if anyone is playing there. . .
You seen Preston or any of the various My Scarlet Life spinoff bands lately?
And will the irresistably cute Lisa be joining us again?

How random is that? Click on a link from weblogs.com just for the hell of it and find somebody else who is a fan of the greatly under-appreciated OtR?
