Don't know what you heard about me
It's a shame, really.
Cobb writes a perfectly sensible post regarding that whole what does it mean to be a black blogger? meme from Formica, and because the comments start getting into linking, all I could think of was this discussion from back in January, when I very politely asked for some links to be removed because I didn't like the crowd they were bringing in.
Ok, maybe "politely" isn't the word I'm grasping for here.
Jason described it as "super-villainy," in fact.
I'd contribute some thoughts on these issues, or a post-mortem of the whole Mac Diva / Blogcritics thing, but really don't feel the urge to.
Well, maybe this: being a black blogger means (sometimes) being put on the defensive for statements you didn't make and beliefs you don't hold. Although one could argue that that's just part of the human condition, and we just luck out with having to deal with it a bit more frequently.
Had to pull this entry from Google's cache; no clue how it got deleted. Probably ridding it of comment spam using Links or something equally foolish.

Dropping by Uppity-Negro, I learned of an ongoing discussion of black identity in the blogosphere that gets into a fairly sophisticated analysis of how A-List bloggers suck up memeshare in their perceived demographic. As with gay bloggers, as a formal ... [Read More]

I miss those days.
We had fun conversations back then and I was so good at taunting.
I think I've lost some of those skills.
Posted by: Jason at September 15, 2003 01:49 PM
Jason, you're trying to make me hit that Rachel Lucas link at Cobb's place, aren't you?
Nothing doing, pal. Although I will admit, some of those old conversations were a lot fun. . .
j., I often wonder why we Negroes, outcasts of society, should be called upon to save it.
Then I remember that we aren't, and I'm confusing us with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles again.

I think I'm lying about the "missing"...I just found the conversation in those comments terribly amusing this morning.
And I didn't even hit the link to Ms. Lucas. The mere thought alone nearly made my head explode.

Damn, that's good! You don't mind if I borrow that, do you?

Abiola, I'm using a Creative Commons license, so do as thou wilt.
Jason, I'm with you on avoiding the head 'splody.

I miss the conversations that the collective "we" had without tourists interruptions. Those were some really good discussions that I enjoyed very much.

*standing around wearing a Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts, a white baseball cap, and a big Pentax hanging from my neck*
Tourists? Where?
Posted by: karsh at September 16, 2003 12:27 PM
karsh, one of 'em is right here.
Pentax? They still make those? Cool.
Michelle, I'd be more inclined to believe you if you hadn't taken so much obvious pleasure in going after said tourists. . .

Visiting from the Uppity Caucasian section (Aryan to boot!) - how are you doing A? Long time no banter. Thanks for the link, I think. Still waiting for you to come around and set us straight, or at least less crooked - the invite's open. Best, EO

Hey Eric. Dog, I gots enough problems updating my own shit on a semi-regular basis, let alone taking on responsibilities I can't possibly fulfill elsewhere.
(code-switching, your guide to quality blogging)
Appreciate the offer, but my original response still stands. I'd feel like Jimi Hendrix jamming with the Beatles 'round there.
Best to you and Dawn.

Oh hell Aaron, it's good to see you. I'm just glad you're updating your shit on a semi-regular basis. You've given me about a week's worth of reading material right here.

we really should fire up wimmen and minorities and kick some ass.
Posted by: drublood at September 16, 2003 07:57 PM
Oh come on. I didn't really go after the tourists. It was Jason, yeah that's it, it was Jason who went after them. And Giles. Jason and Giles. I'm completely innocent as always.
Posted by: Michelle at September 16, 2003 08:14 PM
Well, now we know you're just lying, Michelle. Giles, by definition, can't be going after anyone. He only watches.
Just like on the show.
Posted by: Jason at September 16, 2003 09:30 PM
Wait a minute. Giles is my Watcher?
Y'know, that would explain a lot, actually.
Dru, I'm sure I have a user/pass for the site somewhere in my old email. And never did get around to posting anything, another reason I declined Eric's invite. I am fully aware of my suckage.
Lisa, thanks, love.

Please reference Buffy seasons 2-7. Giles just watching? I think not. Try again.
